MAD May Virtual Challenge Series

The weather is beautiful and Spring is here!  We are itching to get outside and stay active and we bet you are too!  Join us through the month of May with weekly challenges to help you get outdoors and encourage you to stay active.  Already getting out?  Then you might as well register. First of all, its FREE!  Plus, every challenge you complete each week, (4 per week), will get you entered into a drawing for prizes.

Weekly Virtual Challenges Through the Month of May
  • Earn up to 4 entries from completing the challenges each week.
  • The more challenges completed each week the more entries into drawing.
  • Required: Results submitted to IYR for each challenge per week for entry into drawing
  • Optional: Join Strava Club for "Elevation Gain" challenge for additional entry into drawing
  • Optional: Hashtag #GVMayVirtualChallenge on Facebook or Instagram for additional entry into drawing
Schedule and Races (Weeks are run from Friday through Thursday)

Registration is open for all weeks beginning May 1.  Registration closes on Thursday at 11:59 pm for the previous week: May 7, 14, 21, 28, and the 31 (Sunday) for the bonus days.
  • Week 1: May 1 - May 7
    • Run or bike your favorite route! Just put in the miles!
      • 5k run road
      • 5k run trail
      • 20 mile road bike
      • 12 mile mountain bike
  • Week 2: May 8 - May 14
    • Doesn't matter how many miles you log, just that you reach the required elevation gain.
      • 500' gain road run
        • Suggested route? Start at Jr Service League Park and head up Redlands Parkway to Southcamp and keep going!
      • 1000' gain trail run
        • suggested route? Serpents Trail, Pollock Bench Trail, Riggs Hill
      • 1,500' road bike
        • suggested route? The Monument of course! Or Little Park Rd.
      • 1,000' mountain bike
        • suggested route? Lunch Loops or Kokopelli
  • Week 3: May 15 - May 21
    • Run or bike your favorite route! Just put in the miles!
      • 10k road run
      • 10k trail run
      • 35 mile road bike
      • 18 mile mountain bike
  • Week 4: May 22 - May 28
    • Time to "race"!  You can do loops around your neighborhood or your favorite out and back.  The idea is to go as fast as you can while still being safe and following all traffic laws.
      • 5 mile "TT" road run
      • 5 mile "TT" trail run
      • 15 mile "TT" road bike
      • 10 mile "TT" mountain bike
  • Bonus: May 29-31 (Only 3 days to complete!)
    • Complete a run/bike combo of any length in one workout
      • Run and then bike, or bike and then run.  You pick the length of each, but do them back to back.
        • Virtual result combines run & bike times automatically
      • Create a picture with your gps tracker, post on social media with hashtag
        • Calling all creative minds!  Lets see what you can "draw" with your gps tracker!
      • Have an Epic Day!
        • 20+ miles running or 50+ miles biking.


Rules:
  1. With respect to the worldwide COVID concerns, this weekly challenge can be completed anywhere you are (where you live) - please limit travel across counties / states / countries!
  2. Group running/riding is strongly discouraged, unless your "group" lives in the same household. Please respect social distancing directives.
  3. Results submitted to IYR for each challenge must be submitted by closing date at 11:59pm to be entered for the drawing.
  4. Email us when you subscribed for the Strava Club (madness@madracingcolorado.com) for an entry for whichever week you desire to be entered for.
  5. Hashtag #VirtualMADMay (Facebook or Instagram) for additional entry to the drawing for that week. There are a lot of moving pieces to keep track of so please email us to give us an heads up if you want these photos to be considered. MUST REGISTER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE DRAWING

How to Post Your Race Results:

Results for each week must be posted by 11:59 pm on each Thursday, May 7, 14, 21, 28, and the 31st for the Bonus Days.
 
  1. Select the race you are posting results for.
  2. Find your name in the list. (Or search for it in the search bar.)
  3. Click on the “Update Time” button at the end of the row next to your name.
  4. Enter the “hours”, “minutes”, and “seconds” and the click on “Save Your Time”.
  5. Refresh your browser. Your time should appear next to the “update time” button.
